CDQ is a multi-talented Nigerian songwriter, stage performer, and hip-hop rapper best Known for his single “Nowo E Soke” featuring Wizkid.

He is also known for playing instrumentals for launching his career into the music industry, he later won his first career award at the 2016 Nigerian Music video Awards.

His music consists of rapping in the Yoruba language with the addition of ad-libs such as the popular “Woss Wobi” which he invented.

According to him, Banky W coined his name by purchasing a “CD” of great quality. He said, “When you go to the market to purchase a CD in the olden days, and the music is good, you will say the music is quality. So CDQ means CD quality at the same time”.

Early Life

Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, known across Africa by his stage name CDQ, was born on 6th May, 1985 in Orile, Lagos State.

He is a native of Ilorin, Kwara State and moved back to Lagos after completing his secondary education.

His primary education, secondary education and most of his early days were spent in Kwara State after which he moved to Lagos, where he studied Economics at Lagos State University.

After completing his tertiary education, he proceeded into music and began to attend contests and concerts, where he showcased his skills. Who knew what CDQ net worth would turn out to be?

Career

CDQ began professional music in 2008 as a backup singer for Da-Grin (this happened while he was still very much in school). After this, he did some backup rapping for MI as well as DJ Jimmy Jatt and Wizkid.

In 2012, he attended a show at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, where he won the rap battle organized that night. This was a huge event that was instrumental to his decision to take his music beyond acting as a backup singer.

In 2013, he signed a recording contract with Mastercrafts’s General records.

In 2014, he released his breakthrough single titled “Indomie” which featured vocals from Olamide while the remix of the song featured Davido. At this point, CDQ net worth had started to grow.
