Nonini’s Early Life

Nonini who was born Hubert Nakitare on the 2nd of October 1982 in California Estate, Nairobi, Kenya, s of the Luhya decent.

Nonini had a great passion for music, as such he allowed his life to revolve around music and it didn’t take long before he came to the limelight when he signed into Calif Records in 2002.



Nonini later joined with Homeboyz Production, and his hit track Nonini Ni Nani was released.

The record was a hit, and it earned him a lot of praise and notoriety in Kenya’s urban music scene.

In the same year, the Kenyan music legend launched his second single, “Manxi WA Nairobi,” which quickly became one of the most popular songs on radio stations around the country.

Weh Kamu was released shortly after the publication of Manxi WA Nairobi. Nonini’s debut studio album, Hanyaring Game, was released in 2004.

The album Hanyaring Game had multiple successful singles, including Keroro, a Kenyan slang term for beer.

Nonini founded the Pro-Habo Unit (P-Unit) in 2003. The group consisted of famous rappers Frasha, Gabu and Bonnie as well as Nonini himself.

Since the creation of the crew, P-Unit, several hit songs have been released, Notably “Si Lazima” which is the Swahili language that means “its not a must”.

In 2007, at the Kisima Music Awards, P-Unit won the Boomba Group category, this was the first time Nonini won a Kisima award.
